Poetry Week Three

Why hello their awesome alliteration achievers! What great alliteration you came up with. This weeks focus is Onomatopeia's. An onomatopeia is the sound effect of poetry. It is when the word is the name of the sound. Check out this onomatopeia poem below. Then using De Bono's yellow and black hat to comment on what you thought was really good and maybe not so good about the poem?

Laundrette
Wishy, washy there's my shirt
Swirling squirming round my vest.
Splashy, dashy, two red socks
In a sandwich with the rest.
A football scaf, a bright-red hat
A pillow-slip, blue jeans, a sheet.
Oh, my goodness, what is what?
A hand, a face, a pair of feet
Someone swirling round quite bare-
How did Granny get in there?

Week Two Poetry

What great thoughts and feelings people had on last week's poetry. Check out this weeks Alliteration poem. Alliteration is when the words within the poem start with the same letters and sounds. We often see alliteration in tongue twisters. Read the poem below and then use De Bono's Green hat to come up with your own one.
Betty Botter by Mother Goose
Betty Botter bought some butter, but, she said, the butter’s bitter;if I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter, but a bit of better butter will make my batter better. So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter, and she put it in her batter and the batter was not bitter. So ’twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter

Our amazing learning this term.

We have done some amazing learning this term in Room 6. We investigated air, looked at how to write a procedural text, worked on our strategies in multiplication and division and raced to be millionaires in our lexile reading. Have a read of what we liked the most.
